YouTube banner size and resizer
Resize any image to a YouTube channel banner in your browser, with the safe area YouTube publishes for text and logos. Pick the recommended or the minimum size, adjust the crop and download a file under 6 MB. Nothing is uploaded.
Figures from YouTube Help, checked on 2 November 2026.
YouTube asks for a channel banner of at least 2048 x 1152 pixels (16:9) and recommends 2560 x 1440 pixels, especially for TV. At the minimum size, the safe area for text and logos is 1235 x 338 pixels. The file must be 6 MB or smaller.

Your image is resized with your browser’s canvas and is never uploaded.
How to resize a YouTube banner
- Choose your image, or drop it on the tool. It stays in your browser.
- Pick the recommended or the minimum size, tick Show the safe area and drag the image until your text and logos sit inside it.
- Check the file size, then download. The JPG is lowered in quality only as much as needed to stay under 6 MB.
What YouTube publishes
These are the banner image guidelines on the YouTube Help page about channel branding.
| Minimum dimension for upload | 2048 x 1152 pixels, aspect ratio 16:9 |
|---|---|
| Recommended dimension | 2560 x 1440 pixels, especially for TV |
| Safe area for text and logos | 1235 x 338 pixels at the minimum dimension |
| File size | 6 MB or smaller |
| Devices | The same banner is used on computer, mobile and TV and shows differently on each. It gets cropped on certain views and devices. |
| Embellishments | Do not add shadows, borders or frames |
The help page gives the size of the safe area, not where it sits. The preview draws it centered, which is our assumption: check the crop preview in YouTube Studio before you publish. At other sizes the safe area is scaled in proportion.
Good to know
- The banner appears across computer, mobile and TV, so keep text and logos inside the safe area and let the background carry the rest of the image.
- YouTube asks for no added shadows, borders or frames in the banner image itself.
